Dear prospective A level Maths student,

The jump from GCSE to A level Maths can be difficult at the best of times.  We don't want you to be at a disadvantage when starting A level because you didn't finish the GCSE syllabus or because you are out of practice.

If you click on the transitional material link above you will find material to help you with some of the more difficult GCSE content that you will need for A level.

There is quite a lot, so don't aim to do it all at once.  Aim to do a little bit of maths every day.

You will see at the bottom of each page there are references to mymaths.  If you don't use mymaths at your school you can use the SFX account.  The username is Xavier and the password is pentagon.

If you get stuck on the questions then logon to mymaths and type in the reference number which will take you to a lesson to help you.

Use the time you have between now and September to get really good at algebra.  Then you will be ready for the test that we plan to give you in the first week of college.  Enjoy improving your skills and reaching your potential.

If you have any questions about A level Maths at SFX, don't hesitate to get in touch with me by emailing

PS.  Don't be tempted to buy the book they suggest.  We do not use it at SFX.
